Why Must We Earnestly Seek the Truth? | 1 Cor. 3:19-21
June 4, 2024
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; 20 and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” 21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours
1 Corinthians 3:19-21 NKJV
As you know, I often urge for us to diligent seek and find the truth. Why is that? Well, as Jesus said, when one find the truth, it will set them free. However, it is important to note that Jesus was talking about what His truth can do. There is no other truth than that which the Lord has given to us.
All other truths are subjective and objective until our research sways or changes such truth. For this reason, we can agree with Paul in that the ‘wisdom’ of this world is foolishness with God. God will take the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise (1 Cor. 1:27). Satan twists the truths of man, and even God’s truth, to deceive those who believe themselves wise. For that very reason, we can see the urgency as to why we must seek and know God’s truth!
The wisdom of the fool leads to eternal destruction (Prov. 1:22, 30-32). Whereas, Jesus promised that His truth leads to life everlasting. By God’s truth we are able to withstand the battle against wickedness and it doesn’t overcome us. By God’s truth we are able withstand the attacks from our enemy. I don’t know about you, but if you have not found God’s truth, I would see it with urgency today.
If you seek God’s truth, you will find it (Matt. 7:7-8).
