Food For Thought

20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

1 John 2:20, 26-27 NKJV

You, the child of God, have a special anointing from the Lord.  In Psalm 23, when David said that the Lord was his shepherd, he said that God anointed his head with oil.  The anointing of the head is a show of care from the Lord.  A shepherd anoints the heads of his flock as a means of protection from themselves and from other pests.  The Lord has given you, the sincere believer – His child – a special anoint to shield and protect you from all hurt, harm, and danger.

It is very important that we remember that we have our anointing and what our anointing is.  We are shield and protected because our anointing is His word – the holy and divine truth.  The holy and divine truth that we receive through the Holy Spirit.  Knowing this truth is incredibly important, especially in this day.  Why?  Because the devil is a liar and he is active.  Satan desires to deceive you in a cunning manner with words you’ll love to hear.

We discern right from wrong, truth from lie, righteousness from sin through our anointing.  What is of the Spirit, you can discern and certainly know to be the truth.  What is not of the Spirit, you can also discern and know to be a lie.  As John said, you don’t need anyone that is not of the same anointing teaching you anything.  The words of a fool – one without God’s anointing – are words that lead down the path to destruction.

The path of God’s anointed is not a path headed to destruction.  The path of God’s anointed is a path head to life everlasting.  So, remember your anointing and live under the shielding and protection of God.
