Food For Thought

In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; The foundations of the hills also quaked and were shaken, Because He was angry.

Psalm 18:6-7 NKJV

Life can weigh on us so much so that some of us will mistakenly begin to believe that God doesn’t care about us. There are times when our trials and triublations seem to be unending and we’ll think that God wants us to suffer. You will see me reference Jeremiah 29:11 all the time, because God told Jeremiah that His thoughts towards us aren’t evil. We ought not to ever think that God takes pleasure in our hurt and suffering.

David shared with us how his distress moved the Lord. When David cried out to God in the day of his distress, he said that the Lord shook heaven and earth to move for him. David said that God was angry that he was in distress! Let me tell you something: God isn’t happy when we life tests us and when we go through our trials and our tribulations!

I believe it angers the Lord even more when we don’t cry out to Him in the day of our struggle! God is ready to move swiftly to help lift you up in your distress! So, why aren’t we, as soon as we face trouble, crying out to Him? Why do we keep silent in our prayers to the Lord about what grieves us in our soul? Our not turning to God only adds to the distress that we are going through.

However, when we cry out in the name of Jesus, God will move heaven and earth for His children! Your well-being matters to God! And let me say this: it brings God joy to please us and to make us well in our soul! So, don’t you ever refrain your heart or your tongue from crying out to God.
