Thriving Through Every Season by His Word | Ps. 1:1-3
May 2, 2025
1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season,
Psalm 1:1-3 NKJV
whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
A few years ago, I preached a series of sermons about the seed of God dwelling in our hearts and becoming a part of God’s harvest. When God plants a tree, it’s a tree that has an endless supply of water and nutrients. Therefore, no matter the season, the tree will do more than endure, it will thrive and be fruitful.
I feel like these are times where we must remember that we are as a tree in God’s garden. Yes, we’re living in turbulent times, but we have strong roots that are spread and rooted in fertile soil, don’t we? Have you not meditated in the word of the Lord? Have you not set your heart to live in obedience to God’s word? Do you not do you best to follow in the way of Christ? Surely, if you’re doing these things, your confidence should be sky high that you will survive such times.
Ah, but here is the problem. Many of us aren’t meditating in the world with the discipline that we should. Some of us, rather than heeding God’s counsel, we’re choosing to walk in the counsel of the ungodly. Rather than standing in fellowship with the Lord, some of us are choosing to stand in the path of sinners – those who blatantly choose to live in disregard of God’s word.
The sinner grows as a weed that withers in such a climate as today! You, the child of God, can’t be of such little faith that you become a plant that withers in times of turbulence. God’s seed is a good seed, healthy and uncorrupted. You will not only endure in such times as these, you will thrive.
