Daily Devotional

Today’s devotional reading: Matthew 14:28-31

There is a reason why the devil wants you to be distracted from Christ. When Gabriel told Mary that she would conceive in her womb the only Savior of the world, Mary asked, “How?” Then, Gabriel responded with an answer that should remain in your hearts all the days of your life. Gabriel said to Mary, “For with God nothing will be impossible (Luke 1:30-37).

Do you understand that there is no sickness and no disability that can hold you down? Do you understand there is no trial or tribulation that can defeat you? Do you understand that there is no adversary or adversity that you will face in your life that can separate you from the love of God?

It was an unimaginable thing when the apostles saw Jesus walking and standing on water; they couldn’t believe their eyes! Peter called out to Christ to permit him to be able to join him on the water as well, and Christ told him to come. Christ did not turn Peter away from doing something that was so unbelievable and so unimaginable. Peter stepped out of the boat and began to come to Jesus, walking on water, until he got distracted.

Satan knows that so long as you stay focused on Christ, there is nothing he can do to keep you from overcoming. Satan knows that so long as you stay focused on Christ, you will overcome every obstacle that he tries to plague you with. Satan knows that so long as you stay focused on Christ, you will become that which he no longer is – righteous. The devil doesn’t want you to become that which he lost because of his own pride and ego.

Don’t get distracted today. There is a lot of work going on today to distract you from the love of the Lord. However, if you remain focused on the love of God, this day will be another day that God will have lifted you over another mountain. If you remain focused, there is nothing that you will not be able to overcome or accomplish.
